the number on the motor tag is b100-1100974. I also have run into the bad coil problem with my Honda 9.9, am pretty sure engine is an older one so the coil has probably been discontinued, but was hoping someone may have found a solution (either a great used parts place or using a coil from a different motor,...). Bought the motor last year and used it 6 times and would prefer not using it as a paper weight. Any help would be useful.

Couldn't find that serial number, if it's BF100-1100974 then it's a 1979 model number BF100Z
