Default Using Higher Octane Fuel

I have twin late model Honda BF 150'S. whats the go if you use the premium / Ultra / higher octane fuel in preference to the standard unleaded fuel???
Are there any "dangers" or "benefits" of using all of the time or every now and then..!!!
Please let know?

Default higher octane

Higher octane will only increase the temp. that will ingnite the fuel air mixture, not the temp it burns at. Of course you want the spark plug to ingnite the mixture not the heat resulting from compression of the engine.

Some of the high octane gasolines might have addatives that the lower grades don't but the benifites are probably very little -- if any.

Most regular grades of gas will not preingnite if compression ratios are under about 9.5 maybe 10 to 1. Most smaller outboards will fall in this range.

For outboard motors it is well worth using gas w/ NO ethonal added -- if you can find it. Then add and use your favorite additive at all times. Not just for storage.
