tilt works, trim doesn't
I have a 1995 Honda 40 with remote tilt/trim. Recently the trim (fine-tuning at bottom of angle) stopped working and the tilt motor works for the full range of motion. I was told be a local dealer that the trim angle sensor was shot and that the tilt motor would be damaged by the ram hitting a wall at the end of the arc repeatedly. I ordered the part from boats.net, installed it and it makes no difference. The tilt motor works through the full range. Two questions: 1) what else could be the problem, and 2) is there a risk to the tilt motor if I choose to not repair it? I only use the boat a 5 or 6 times a year.
