Default oil leak maybe??

good evening,

i just found this website and thank you to all!!!!!

picked up a 7.5S #1402936, 1982..

cleaned it up, changed gas, oil levels ok, smooth running, however, discovered a small oil leak some where around the fly wheel under the starter..

any suggestions?? before i remove the pull starter, parts available??,easy job??....my mechanic says he thinks its an upper seal...

thanks again,,,,,no flames here...

Just need to see if can track down where oil is coming from, need to check the serial number and see what the prefix is for correct parts listing.

good afternoon,

after several cleanings with degreaser, carb cleaner, tap water(no nozzle)....cannot find the leak....seal did come in and i am going to keep it......

seems the weep holes in the shaft housing have never been cleaned and we think someone spilled oil in the shaft housing when filling...cleaned the weep holes with carb cleaner and WD-40 and a piece of coat hanger.... flow is fine..

as for the seal under the fly wheel....cleaned the area with carb cleaner and a tooth brush(found a couple of globs of dried grease) and degreaser....cannot find oil anywhere after several running over 30 minutes at various rpm's.......sprayed it down with WD-40 and started it up for 30 minutes...seems OK...will button up the cold natured beast and use it...

order 3 shear pins for spares....
will change oil next week and check gear oil,,,,
