I have what I was told was a 7.5 four stroke around mid 80's. Data tag is missing. Any ideas on another way to tell what year and for sure what size motor I have. It has problems and I am trying to find parts for it. Local boat shop says it's a 85,86,or 87 7.5. The engine manual has pictures that show that it could be a 9.9

Without the serial and HP there is really no way to tell.
