Default lower unit question

I have a 1998 Honda 50. The engine runs great but the lower unit has a corrosion problem. I've had the lower unit welded twice now and It's cracked again. I'm looking for a new lower unit. Does anyone know the year bracket for my engine. Its a '98. What years will fit?

Probably late 90's early 2000's depending on shaft length.

I'm surprised you are so matter-of-fact regarding corrosion cracks in the lower unit. I just discovered cracking on my BF50A lower unit which appears to be from corrosion, and if corrosion actually caused it, there must be quite a few of us with the same problem. Has there been much internet discussion of this? What can be done to prevent future cracking?
