Default laid down my engine----did I damage it?

Hi all.

New to the forum. Been lurking and reading for the last week or so.

I bought my first Honda 4 stroke. 15 hp Previous owner said it was a 2009 but according to the serial number chart its a 2007

So don't know what it really is. Ser # BALJ - 1404218

Anyway I brought it home in the back of my truck. I laid it down. Not knowing any better when I got it home and put it on a rack I saw a sticker on the side of the engine that says something to the effect of "lay down engine this side up". Well of course I didn't see that when I first put it in the back of the truck, and I had it laying down wrong. It was that way for about two hours. So I need to know did I do damage to the engine? I let it sit standing up till the next day then tried to start it. It will start but it has a very weak idle and stalls when I try to give it some throttle.

Thanks in advance for any input

Tim

The engine oil will drain into the the intake manifold and will make it smoke a lot when start it and take awhile running to clear out excess oil. In a severe case the oil will get on top of engine wont be able to start engine, engine will lock up, then have to remove spark plugs and spin engine over to clear out oil.
