I own a 2007 bf 40 hp, have been told that it should easily upgraded to a 50 bf as the physical specs. are the same. I have worked on outboards over the years, mostly converting 9.9 hp. to the 15 hp by removing the restrictor plate, and they had more power. Does the Honda use a similar device to use a standard block (50hp) and restrict it to the 40hp. If not what is the procedure?
