Default Inquiry about extension for Honda BF20D

Hi

I have a 2006 model year Honda bf20D short shaft, but I want to change him into a long shaft, do you have some kit to extended the motor, if so, how much does it cost.

Regards

Honda doesn't offer a shaft extension kit.

Default Bf20d extension

in the shop manual BF15D.BF20D supplement in chapter 4, the Gear Case Assembly, the Extension Separator and the Water Pump for the UL type is described.

Maybe this gives a clue

Compare your model to a long shaft model.

You will need a different extension case ($300), vertical shaft ($200), shift shaft ($20), and water tube ($30). It may need some different mounting bolts. Not sure about that.

You may have to pull the power head to change the water tube and possibly the shift shaft. The shift shaft can be changed without pulling the power head, but you will learn a whole lot of new "words" if you do. Since you have to change the extension case, that may be the time to change the shift shaft. Never tried it this way.

You have to partially disassemble the lower unit to install the new vertical shaft.

This is a lot of work to do to a perfectly good motor, but if you need a long shaft and you have the time and knowledge to do it...

Be sure to purchase the OEM Honda Shop manual to help you take things apart. Helm Incorporated: Search Results It is somewhat costly, but well worth the investment if you are going to do this.
