Default Flushing engine in water

I have 2005 twin 135hp Hondas on my boat. I was looking at the possibility of connecting both flush hoses to a manifold adding a quick disconnect for the hose fitting that I could easily access at the transom to flush the engines after each use.

So my question is,

1. With the engines in use is there any reason why the existing flush fitting on the engine have to be put back together. I noticed when disconnected water was still coming out of the telltale and nothing out of the flush fitting.

Your comments appreciated.

Thanks,

Technically, is there any problem running the engines with the flush fitting male and female disconnected which will happen if I leave the new manifold in place. Just by looking at it, it does not appear to be in use when the engine is running. Am I correct ?

As long as there is no water coming out of flush hose when engine is running then should be ok.
