Question Flushing a BF15A

O.K., I'm confused Owners manual says to hook up flushing fitting and run engine for 20 minutes...tried that and ended up replacing impeller. No water from tattle tale should have clued me in... Used "ear muffs" and results were similar

Is the only way to flush these motors submersion of the lower end into a vessel of water??? Owners/service books are NOT real clear! Heck, I've owned plenty of Mercs, Evinrude/Johnsons n' never saw this $_it!

BTW it's a BAAL1203718...I don't know the year but I sure like the way it runs...

Putting it in water is best, run in tub of water or with boat in water with outboard deep enough in water so that the water pump is completely submerged. The manuals I've seen say not to run engine on motor flush fitting.
