Question Fast Idle Friction Adjustment

The fast idle lever will not remain "up" on the remote control. I'm pretty sure there is a friction adjustment but I hesitate to tear into the unit to look for it. Any easy way to adjust it? I have both Dual Honda 45's and a Honda 90 with remotes.

thanks

The only friction adjustment that I know of (on the side mount box...with the key and green and red lights) is at the bottom of the shifter below the key switch and the safety switch. It is a stainless shaft about 1/4" in diameter with a standard screw slot at the end.

I think this only controls the friction on the shifter handle. i do not think it does anything to the fast idle lever. The fast idle lever has a detent, but I think it "is what it is".

Sorry...

Thanks Mike. All the way up engages the choke, anything less just raises the idle speed. Unless you figure out a way to hold it half open manually, it drops back to idle. Looking at all the parts in the pict****, there's gotta be a way to adjust that lever.

Maybe someone else will chime in. Have asked the parts folks on this site too.

The parts diagrams are not real clear, but the friction adjustment provides friction to the big wheel. The big wheel is attached to the throttle cable via a connection to a two part hinged lever. The fast idle lever moves that two part lever independently from the big wheel.

Maybe, if you can come up with some creative friction device to put between the lever and the body of the shifter....
