Default Disconnect throttle control from Honda 9.9

Have a new Honda 9.9 and had mechanic wire a cockpit throttle control box to the engine through the transom. Now need to remove the plugs from the engine for winter storage but unable to remove the plugs. They're visible but difficult to access. Not enought room to press the release clips as the compartment is congested. Any suggestions? Special tool used? Are there two release clips on each plug?

If we get it disconnected, am thinking of laying the wiring over the top of transom next year (protected of course) to avoid having to mess with the engine every year or pay the yard mechanic.

Thanks.

Not sure what they wired in or what connectors it would have.
