So far, I haven't had to post because everything I needed was in the archives. I have a serious, new problem that I don't have an answer for.

I own an '04 9.9 4-stroke outboard. The previous owner let this thing soak for at least 2 years in salt water without raising or removing the engine from his sailboat. The engine was a bit large for the engine well, and would not lock in the "up" position.

Now I own the engine, and when I attempted to remove the lower unit to replace the water pump impeller, the um..."intermediate" housing, cracked due to corrosion. The whole housing is corroded and should be replaced.

Can this part be purchased? When I search online, no price is listed, only a "call us for availability" statement.

It's a damned tragedy. The engine runs PERFECTLY, shifts perfectly. Can this outboard be saved?
