Default charging system ?

I have a Honda model 1987 BF 9.9 AH B100L 1707666 outboard motor. It has a two (2) slot plugin on the right front of the motor. One slot is vert. and the other is horz. . Ive got voltage of 8 or 9 volts at idle and 12 to 13.6 at mid speed. My questions:
What kind of amps can I except? Posable to charge battery?
Where can I purchace a male plug?

Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike, it sounds like actually you have a 1985 BF100L by the serial number. Anyway, yes, that charge current sounds about normal, they won't really produce a charge at idle, has to be revved up a bit. The fuse in-line is either 5 amp or 7 amp, I can't remember which. But you could expect up to 5 amps charge current. The male plug is still available from Honda. Don't have the part number off the top of my head, but you can check the diagrams on the boats.net site and find it. Good luck.
