Default BF8A stalls when put into gear

I have a 2000 BF8A. After starting the motor and I put it into gear the motor will stall. After the motor runs for 3 or 4 minutes and I engage the gear it will run.
Thanks for any help

Most of the time cleaning the carb resolves it.

Default blew out carb no difference

I took the carb apart and blew it out. The problem has remained the same.
Do I need to soak the carborator in a cleaner? The carb was really clean inside
thus just the **** out.
If the cleaning doesn't cure the problem what else could be the problem?

We soak them, **** out with air and check every passage and jet to make sure is open. May have to make carb adjustments.

Default found the fix

I am not a mechanic but I figured this one out and you are more than welcome to put this in your quiver of problem solvers. It wasn't the carb, it wasn't bad gas, it was the switch shield plate on the shift shaft. It had rotated slightly forward on the shaft so when you shifted, it was causing the netural switch to stall the engine. I took a big screw driver and rotated it back about .25" and no more problems......imagine that.
