Same issue here. Rebuilt carbs fresh fuel. Good idle, good to 2300 to 2500 rpm in gear on the water depending on needle valve setting. After that pushing it further causes it to die. Cranks right back up and again good to 2500. In neutral can get up to 5500 very smooth, beyond misses some.
Maybe fuel pump issue? Tried adjusting fuel mixture out on the water yielding the 2300 to 2500 rpm range. When richer, idle gets rough, rpm drops to the 2300 range under load. Adjusted all the way in to no idle, back out 1/4 turn each time, still the same problem, range between 2300 to 2500 before it cuts off. Manual value of 2 1/8 turns out on the mixture seems to yield the best idle and 2500 rpm until stumbling under load.
If advance until the rpm starts to drop under load and then bring throttle back a little, no cut off is experienced.
Thanks
