Default BF2 no spark

Hi,
I am not getting a spark from my spark plug tester, while connected to a known ground.
I have disabled the kill button.
Is there any method to testing the coil?
I have used my digital volt meter in what appears to be the kilo ohm position and it reads 16.xx from ground to spark plug wire.
Is this an indication of anything?
I have cut back the spark plug wire and screwed the spark plug boot to insure a good connection.
I do not have a low oil shut down.
This is a 1987 model.
Any help would be appreciated.
My local honda repair shop has never seen a bad coil in this model.

If no spark and stop switch is disconnected then probably a bad coil.

Away way to test it before investing $95 for a coil?
Thanks again

You can run resistance test but no way to load test it.
