BF130 -- Oil Warning Light
I was running a new-to-me 2002 Honda 130 this past weekend and assumed that the oil pressure light would come on if there were an issue (instead of turning off – contrary to the rest of the warning lights on the motor). Well, we ran the boat for several hours with the green light off.
The good news is that the motor ran very well -- across all rpms -- and there were no aural alarms. Prior to taking possession of it, I had a mechanic check it out (not a Honda guy, but a certified Yamaha mech who came recommended) and he said it was in great shape. All electronics worked, compression was good, oil looked clean/good, etc, etc.
The net/net is the engine has run flawlessly. Exactly like we had hoped and expected from a low-hour Honda (160 hours). Do we now need to worry and haul the boat or is it just a bulb that is out?
Thanks for you help.
PS- As an aside, I would say that having all the warning lights work the same way, would be a good idea. Either green is good and red is bad or the converse/inverse -- having it otherwise is, well, poor practice to say the least. You can't have it both ways...
