Default BF-40 Cooling Issue

I see a weaker stream on one 40hp motor than my other 40hp motor. When the motor is in the water I notice bubbles coming from the area near the cavitation plate. Is it possible to assemble the lower uunit to the power head and not have the water pipe properly fit into the water pump? If so, how do you know when you have it correctly aligned? Thank you in advance, I really enjioy this site.

Inspect the water tube grommet in water pump housing and if haven't replaced water pump impeller probably needs new one.
