Or do I just take the whole thing to the scrap yard. It had spark last year, but had some other issues, I worked on those other issues and today it would not start up. I checked everything I can think of and everything the book tells you to check. I did notice when I was trying to start it that the green light on the front ( oil pressure) was trying to light.
If anyone has any ideas or location for that CDI I would love the input. However Boats.net lists that CDI for almsot $200, and I am not going to put that much into an OLD engine that has quite a bit of corrosion on it.
If no luck and someone needs this engine for other parts in it please don't hesitate to contact me. I have about $130.00 in it at this pont, so would not take a whole lot for me to part with it.
Thanks

If it had spark last year and it just sat for awhile and now has no spark, it's unlikely that the CDI went bad. Check the main ground at the front of the motor, it is attached to the shift safety switch housing. Check for corrosion there, then check all other important connections for corrosion, like the flywheel coil wire, wires coming from the shift safety switch, and sensor coil connector (wires coming from under the cam pulley). Clean all the connections really well, both ends, with wire brush or whatever. If that doesn't get it, test the sensor coil per the book. I had one go out and that was what caused loss of spark. Also check wire going to the primary coil.
I might be interested in the parts if you can't get it going... Thanks, John
