Default '96 BF90 Trim Sensor

My trim guage is no longer registering trim position. With the motor in the full upright position I checked the trim sensor and noticed after depressing it down it does not spring back. anyone know if it should be springing back or is the spring simply an assist? Thanks much all - happy boating!

Spray it down with penetrating oil and work up and down to see if loosen up. If it doesn't free up so spring retracts it then will need to replace it.
