Default 7.5 HP overheating

I have a BF75L (I think it's a 1994) that overheated yesterday. I assumed it was the impeller, so I replaced it. When I started the motor, there was very little water coming out of the pee hole. When I revved it up, it increased, but only very slightly. I checked the hose and the connection to the motor for blockage and found none. Is there a thermostat in these motors? Where is it and could this be the problem?

Thanks, Rick

Default pee hole

follow the pee hole hose back to the gasket housing. you will probably have to remove carburetor to remove gasket housing cover. make sure the thermostat holder isn't melted and covering the pee hole. if that doesn't help, take your lower unit back off and make sure the water pump housing isn't all scratched up from the impeller breaking apart and scouring it. if it is really etched, then you will probably need to order some parts. also, make sure you rinsed out all of the pieces of impeller that might have broken off into the cooling hose and housing.

Default Overheating

I looked at the impeller housing when I had it apart. It looked good. I had to replace it a couple years ago. This time the impeller didn't look too bad, it was still pliable. I had a new one on hand so I replaced it anyway. That's why I suspected something else was wrong. So the thermostat is under the cover on the port side where the pee hose connects to the motor? Looks easy enough. Thanks. If the thermostat looks good, what else might cause the problem?
