Angry Is 47 days with no diagnoses of idling problem acceptable?

My 225 has been at a local repair shop for 48 days. The motor idles fine during the start up cycle, then vibrates more and more violently. The mechanic says this is due to an unknown condition where one of the sensors is telling the computer to lean the fuel mixture. After replacing many sensors and parts, the condition has not been diagnosed. How long is reasonable for a customer to wait for repair/replacement. I feel I have waited long enough and would like the unit replaced. Customer service had no answer to my question.

I think I would have been PO'd a long time ago. You shouldn't be without your boat for that long during boating season. What year is it?

Default update of status

I just stopped by the repair shop. The repairs were completed thursday, july22 (day 46). Unfortunately, the honda rep isn't returning the phone calls from the shop to authorize the warranty repairs. That adds up to 4 more days of lost fishing time (yes, I had thurs-mon off work) due to poor customer service. I live to fish, not get screwed by inconsiderate rep's. This experience will help me make my next repower decision.

Default How do you really feel?

I had to laugh at your comments - though not funny. I had an experience with my 2002 BF15. I use it lake fishing only as a kicker. Every year it would "make oil", run crappy and stink. I bought Honda's so I wouldn't have problems. I'd take it back to the dealer every year. They'd work on it saying it runs fine. I'd take it back up to the lake (7 hour drive) and it would do the same thing. 7 years of doing this. Never a word from Honda - the dealer wouldn't call the guy and I could never figure out how to get in touch with him. I think they must keep the rep isolated from the honda owning public. The last time I called Honda's customer service line they told me to run the motor fast for 30 minutes before I troll with it then run it fast for another 30 minutes before shutting it down. I couldn't believe it. I took it back to the dealer again and I think they have a different mechanic because whatever he did (?) fixed the problem. Of course it cost me $250 to fix the problem I'd had from the get go. Seems to me that when a company charges a premium for a "superior" product they should go out of their way to make sure their product performs. There are other manufacturers I hear good things about, but, I still hear good things about Honda's too. I think it's all a crap shoot!
Good luck salmon fishing.
