Default 2003 Honda 225 with solid buzzer

I have a 225 and the buzzer will go off after I take off and the buzzer will stay constant (not pulse).
I can get it up to about 4500 rpm then after the buzzer goes off it will shut down to about 2000 (which I think is low rpm mode).
Any ideas where to start looking? Is this alarm an overheat issue or something else?

It's could be overheating or low oil pressure, probably overheating.

Default re: low oil pressure, overheating

I checked the oil level and found that it's "making oil". The level is about 2" above the high mark and, I found that it smells like it's gas that's the culprit.

This is a 2003 BF225A, does this model have a diaphram type low pressure fuel pump? If so could the problem be the fuel pump with possibly a leaking diaphram?

Yes check the fuel pump, check to see if float valve is sticking open in vapor tank.

how many running hour engine? check piston compression reading, oil pressure reading, if reading is low, engine may need a overhauling job. why, bf225 build in with a high oil pressure sencor, running the engine at high rpm the oil pressure should increase. if the oil prssure do not trip the sencor, the ecm/ceu sense an adnormal oil reading and if trip the alarm and reduces the engine speed or rpm to prevent mechanical failure. i have tested a similar engine problem, to comfirm this we used a thicker engine oil sae40, yes the result positive. now it pending the user to decide to have a overhauling job. hope the idea work for your engine

Wink

Had a 50 HP Honda 4 stroke which started making oil after about 60 hours of being new. Honda tech said it was the thermostat causing the engine to run too cool and allowing gas to get by the rings on combustion. he said sometimes stats are bad when new. Changed stat and never made oil again. Makes sence!!!! Stats are easy to change on the BF225, they have 2 and be sure to get a new oring seal.

I now have 2 BF225's but have not had a problem with them.
