Default 20 hp outboard problems

Hi i have just got in the last 2 weeks, a bf 20HP short shaft tiller control.
On saturday on ullswater, whilst cruising along at about 7-10 mph it stopped.
Still turned over, had fuel etc, and compression just would not start.
I have taking it into my local dealer who have been brilliant as it is still under warranty, but they have said it has had a cam pulley failure, as in the centre has come out of the pulley so the valve train has stopped working.
Is this common?, has there been an issue with these in the past? I am due to be going on holiday next week and taking it on the sea, and now i am just not sure how reliable these are??

Haven't heard of any issues with cam pulley on a BF20.

Unhappy BF20 camshaft pully

Just had the same problem with mine. The bakerlight centre has come away from the metal hub. Have fitted a aluminum plate to secure the centre as am unable to get a replacment for 3 weeks. Can these pullys be brought on line?
Also my motor is only 3 years old and has done around 30 Hrs. Unless the dealer fits the pully there is no waranty.

The pulley is available, here is parts diagram(recheck serial number to make sure correct) Honda Outboard Parts 2007 and Later BF20DK0 LHTA OUTBOARD ENGINE, JPN, VIN# BAMJ-1400001 TIMING BELT Diagram
It would be better to take to a dealer to see if can warranty it, that will let Honda know there is a problem and need to resolve it.
