  • Removing swivel case liners on a BF40A

Hi, what is the normal way to remove the swivel case liners and shaft from the swivel case housing on a 1998 BF40A?

The workshop manual says to remove the circlip and draw the swivel shaft out using special Honda handle 07749-0010000. Question is, is there another alternative?

    Thanks.

You will need a good driving tool to drive steering arm out and probably have to apply some heat to lower mount housing in order to get shaft out.

It seems like making up a hydraulic press might be the way to go, it's proving to be a very stubborn bugger to move with a hammer. Thanks for the tip tho.
      Cheers and regards.

If been in saltwater then it will take a lot of heat, they are very tight fit.

Looks like we will have some serious work to do on the weekend, instead of watching football and drinking beer. Thanks and regards..
