  • New water impeller will not pump- Please Help!

    Hi there,
I am currently trying to repair a 2hp 4 stroke honda model number- "BF2A". This outboard had been sitting for 6 years and the water impeller was completely shreded. Cleaned everything out and replaced it with a new impeller but it does not pump water like it should. All water passages are clear and everything is installed correctly. In the first initial start up it will pump water for about 5 seconds and then, nothing. This happens every time i stop it and restart and the water stream just keeps going away. I am clueless as to what to do at this point. Anyone have any ideas? Please help!
I would also like to point out that the impeller looks like it has a slight space and is not completely sealed against the bottom of the housing. I am wondering if that could affect the suction of water going up the cooling line.

If impeller was shreaded then housing may be melted or damaged.

That would make sence, the motor had been sitting for 6 years and the first start up after that most likely finished off the impeller
